Harry Potter Walks Fast Without His Broom

I love to run, and speed walk if I’m indoors. I was in the skyway today and went past a guy who said “Harry Potter walks faaaasst without his broom.”

I looked around and saw no other suitable canadites, so I assume he was talking about me. Afterall, it’s not the first time I’ve been called Harry Potter. But I thnk he meant it as an insult.

I mean, I’m not a big fan of his stories, but I wouldent mind being Harry Potter. Then I could throw people across rooms with spells and conjure light when it’s dark. Plus, I would have a flying broom. I don’t think I’d mind it one bit. Besides, darn muggle, you’re eating chips while walking slow.

I’ll take Harry Potter anyday.

  1. I just wanted to tell you that I thought this was pretty clever. I don’t know if anyone has ever posted on your stories and poems, but I want you to know that you have a fan. Your prose is interesting. I watched you in King of the Nerds, and to be honest, the show cast you in a pretty negative light. I don’t know if you’re really that way in person, but whatever sort of person you are, I think you’ve got serious talent, and you shouldn’t ever underestimate that. I hope you do publish a book. I don’t know if you already have. I looked online and couldn’t find anything, besides this page. Either way, I’d like to read whatever novel you put together.

    • Thank you! This was a funny thing to happen. It had a sequel too where I ran into the same guy again. He waved and said “Hey, it’s Harry Potter!” Somewhere in month or so that passed, I got a feeling that the prior run-in that I posted about here had become a fond/funny memory for him too. It’s cool to think about the impact we have on each other’s lives even in passing.

Thanks for the kind words, because I do pride myself on writing, despite not considering anything on this blog to be my best work. That energy tends to get saved for the novels! And yes, no novels published (yet, currently looking for representation for 2). I’m working on it and am stubborn enough to not stop working on it until I succeed, and hopefully we’ll see that happen soon. I’m tempted to self publish now that I have more publicity going around, but I’m investigating all options. And thanks, I hope you enjoy them when they’re available.

  2. I don’t think it would be hard at all for you to publish on your own. A lot of people know you’re name these days, since you’ve been on the show. I mean, I was inspired to look you up because of it, so I’m sure many others will follow suit. However, you should exhaust all options, because you never know. It could work both ways, after all. Finding an agent and becoming published may be a lot easier now that your name is out there.
I’ve considered writing myself, for a long time. I love doing it, but I never seem to finish anything I start because I lose confidence in the work long before that point, so I’m apparently stuck in limbo.
